Xbox has reduced the monthly price of Game Pass Ultimate from $29.99 to $22.99 and PC Game Pass from $16.49 to $13.99. The changes took effect today. This follows internal acknowledgment that the service had become too expensive for many subscribers.
At the same time, beginning this year, new Call of Duty titles will no longer arrive on Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass on day one. Instead, they will be added approximately one year later during the following holiday season. Existing Call of Duty games currently in the library will remain available. An Xbox executive statement noted that the adjustments respond to player feedback across different geographies and preferences.
The pricing reduction represents a partial reversal of last year's increases, which had taken Ultimate to nearly $30. Whether this revised value equation proves sustainable in the quarterly reports remains to be tracked. The metrics will be interesting to review.
