Bethesda leadership framed the reductions as a necessary pivot from studio-centric planning to a franchise-focused model prioritizing titles like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, according to internal memos. id Software responded with a statement noting its current headcount matches the team size during the 2016 Doom reboot and reaffirming commitment to id Tech development ahead of QuakeCon. OneBGS, the Bethesda Game Studios union, has rejected the corporate terminology outright, accusing management of attempting to evade bargaining obligations through reclassification of the cuts.
