Complex Games has expanded the formula with nine playable classes drawn from multiple Imperial chapters, seven distinct enemy factions each with their own behaviors and pressures, and deeper customization that lets commanders mix abilities, weapons, and chapter identities into bespoke squads.

The campaign leans into player agency through environmental hazards, psychic pushes and pulls, and the interplay of melee and ranged builds, while a new Skirmish mode offers standalone tactical experiments without the full narrative weight.

Studio Head Jonas Van Niekerk emphasized that the title welcomes newcomers via an inquisitor-framed introduction while rewarding longtime fans with authentic grimdark details, all built console-first for natural controller play.

Expect more mission variety, new vehicles including Redemptor Dreadnoughts and Leman Russ tanks, and the same brutal odds-against-you combat that defined the first game, now scaled for broader tactical compositions.
