CWA and CWA Canada just dropped unfair labor practice charges against Microsoft at the NLRB, claiming the company unlawfully axed union workers at Xbox studios without proper notice or bargaining while talks were ongoing. The July 15 filing in case 16-CA-390759 accuses Microsoft of bad-faith bargaining, failing to hand over required information, coercive moves, and unilaterally changing contract terms during active negotiations. CWA Canada president Carmel Smyth called it out directly: the employer cannot arbitrarily alter working conditions mid-bargaining, and the unions plan to keep filing legal challenges to protect Bethesda Game Studios workers and others hit in the recent cuts.
