Trophy Games has acquired Playrion SASU, the Paris-based developer of Airport Simulator: First Class and Airlines Manager, from Paradox Interactive for €2.25 million upfront plus a three-year earn-out tied to net revenue. The deal, announced September 25, 2026, brings approximately 30 employees into the Danish studio and represents Trophy Games' largest acquisition to date. Closing is expected September 30, 2026.
Trophy Games CEO Søren Gleie noted the studio had tracked Playrion for four years as a competitor and sees Airport Simulator as the foundation for a new simulation franchise, mirroring its 2021 acquisition of Airline Manager 4 that expanded into multiple transport management titles. Paradox CEO Fredrik Wester framed the sale as part of a strategic refocus on PC and console strategy and management games, adding that Playrion operates with around €4 million in annual revenue. Trophy Games has raised its 2026 revenue guidance to €22.8–24.1 million from the prior €20.1–22.4 million range as a result.
The transaction continues the pattern of mid-sized studios shifting hands as publishers adjust platform priorities and consolidate mobile simulation assets. Playrion, founded in 2010, was previously acquired by Paradox in 2020.
The acquisition will be funded from existing cash reserves with no debt impact.
