Take-Two Interactive is casting an exceptionally wide net in its hunt for the GTA 6 leaker known as Cyberleek, filing DMCA subpoenas in the Southern District of New York that demand detailed identifying information from Microsoft and Discord on potentially thousands of users. The requests, filed August 20 and granted shortly after, seek account IDs, registration and last-login IP addresses, phone numbers, linked Google/Xbox connections, device identifiers like MachineGuid/MSA, and even OneDrive content tied to GTA or Rockstar for every account that communicated in specific servers since June 1, 2026—including Ødyssey.gg, "! Odyssey," and DarkViperAU. This broad dragnet extends far beyond the named accounts like CYBERLEEK and CinematicRockstar, pulling in data from servers with tens or hundreds of thousands of members, many of whom had no involvement in the leaks.
The filings confirm the leaked footage is treated as genuine copyrighted material, citing unauthorized audiovisual content, artwork, and other elements from an unreleased build. Take-Two explicitly states the data will be used only to identify alleged infringers and protect its rights, with production deadlines set for September 4. Microsoft has indicated cooperation through Xbox CTO Scott Van Vliet's statement that the company is "working closely with Take-Two and Rockstar Games to support efforts to protect creative works and intellectual property," while also pursuing its own internal investigation into the Cyberleek persona and related GitHub activity.
Discord, however, has not yet been formally served and is reserving judgment. Marketing director Ryan K. Rigney stated on X that the company "has not yet been served with a subpoena from Take Two" and will "evaluate the validity and scope before responding." The scope has already raised alarms among users in the affected servers, where ordinary members now face the prospect of their personal details—phones, IPs, device IDs—landing in the hands of a major publisher over leaks they never touched.
This approach prioritizes rapid identification over precision, turning a targeted leaker pursuit into a sweeping data collection effort across entire communities.
