Supermassive Games has initiated a redundancy consultation process that could result in the loss of up to 75 positions, marking the studio's third round of cuts in roughly two years.

The announcement follows the May release of Directive 8020, the latest entry in its Dark Pictures Anthology, which arrived to mixed critical and user reception with Metacritic scores around 71 for critics and a 5.6 user score described as mixed or average.

Previous reductions included up to 36 staff in July 2025 alongside a delay of Directive 8020 to the first half of 2026, and an earlier reorganization in February 2024 that reports indicated affected around 90 employees.

The studio stated the current measures represent a necessary step to ensure long-term sustainability, with support measures in place for those affected.
