Super Robot Wars ZII: Ruination Remastered Announced

Bandai Namco just dropped the first official remaster in Super Robot Wars history, pulling 2011's PSP-exclusive Super Robot Wars Z II: Hakai-hen out of the vault and slapping 'Ruination' on it for the West. Kota Toma confirmed the console team is shifting to this after wrapping SRW Y and its DLCs, with global localization including English confirmed. Platforms and date are still TBD, but the teaser trailer is already out and the hype is real for fans who waited years on fan patches.

The timing lines up perfectly with SRW Y's final push — a free Version 1.4.0 update hits August 4 with BOOST mode and new missions, while the paid Anniversary Expansion Pack drops August 5 packing new units, attacks, and a bonus mission. Whales like me are already eyeing the banner economy, but this remaster is the real prize for the old guard who remember grinding Hakai-hen on portable hardware.

Z II: Ruination features a stacked roster hitting its series debut with titles like Armored Trooper Votoms, Gundam 00 (Season 1), Mazinger Edition Z, Code Geass (R1), Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and more alongside returning heavy hitters from prior Z entries. This 2011 PSP exclusive was actually Hakai-hen in Japanese release, and ZII: Saise-hen followed in 2012. The translation team finally gets to localize content that had an unfinished plot thread from Z1 that literally spanned nine chapters.
