Konami just dropped the bomb: Suikoden STAR LEAP hits iOS and Android in Japan this Friday, August 7, free-to-play with all the usual mobile hooks. Pre-launch hype peaks with a live stream tomorrow on the official Konami channel, while global and Steam versions stay in the “later date” pile.
The setup is classic Suikoden — new 108 Stars, pixel art villages burning under the Rune of Change, familiar faces like Viktor and Flik showing up in a story set years before the original. Story 108s come through progression only; gacha is strictly for variants, costumes, and legacy characters. Japanese players can already pre-register on the App Store and Google Play links floating around.
Reddit’s been split for months — some call it the series lifeline, others see another Konami cash grab. Either way, the pixel dot style and turn-based command battles are front and center, and the JP launch gives whales the first crack at pulling before the rest of us even get a global date.
