SEGA and RGG Studio just dropped the full cast sheet for Stranger Than Heaven, and the 50-year action-adventure saga now has Snoop Dogg as the globe-trotting merchant Orpheus who mentors protagonist Makoto Daito after discovering him as a stowaway. Makoto, portrayed by Yu Shirota, is a half-Japanese, half-American youth fleeing persecution in 1915 America for his mother's homeland, where he teams up with sharp-witted Yu Shinjo (Dean Fujioka) and gets pulled into Japan's underbelly of merchants, yakuza, and showbiz hopefuls across five cities and decades through 1965.

The reveal expands an already stacked lineup that mixes RGG's signature Japanese talent—such as Ado as wartime Osaka diva Keiko Shirai, Akio Otsuka as merchant boss Heigo Yashima, and the late Bunta Sugawara's likeness as Kure big boss Genzo Iwaki (voiced by Takashi Ukaji with family consent and Toei archival materials)—with international music heavyweights. Tori Kelly plays aspiring singer Suzy Day, Satoshi Fujihara voices pianist and sworn brother Takashi, and Snoop Dogg's real son Cordell Broadus appears as the mysterious Veiled Stranger; Tupac Shakur's likeness also surfaces as Amaru, a man in hiding. Orpheus's motto—“Taking what’s meant to be where it’s meant to be”—fits the smuggling mentor who spots Daito's musical talent early.

The game launches January 15, 2027, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Microsoft Store, and day-one on Game Pass, continuing RGG's shift into broader historical epics while retaining its knack for memorable supporting casts. The 17-character reveal, complete with new screenshots, underscores how music and performance thread through Daito's journey from stowaway to showbiz player and eventual Tojo Clan founder.

Snoop Dogg as a postwar merchant smuggler teaching a half-American kid the ropes in Japan is exactly the kind of unhinged casting that makes Stranger Than Heaven's premise feel stranger than fiction.
