MAGES. and Spike Chunsoft just dropped the trailer for STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT's new Gamma Worldline route, and it strips away the one thing that made Rintaro Okabe the chaotic mad scientist we know. In this alternate path, the Hououin Kyouma persona never manifests, the time machine stays unfinished, and D-Mails never enter the picture. Okabe instead finds himself allied with Moeka Kiryu in a darker, lonelier existence that the developers explicitly call a new kind of brutality.

This route adapts elements from the 2010 Hyde of the Dark Dimension drama CD, expanding on Gamma attractor field lore that sat outside the original 2009 visual novel's main storylines. Players watch Okabe confront hostile former allies at the lab and grapple with despair without his signature delusions of grandeur to buffer the reality. The addition arrives as a fresh story branch created specifically for the remake, not a retread of prior content.

RE:BOOT itself launches August 20 in Japan across PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PS4, Switch, and PC, with Western Xbox and Steam versions hitting the same day and console versions following October 29. The route's emphasis on loneliness and moral compromise gives longtime fans a fresh lens on how the Science Adventure universe can fracture without its central eccentric.
