Squadron 42 finally crawled onto Steam after fourteen years of development, complete with a Q2 2027 release window that Cloud Imperium Games hopes will dodge the GTA 6 shadow. The wishlist trailer leans hard into cinematic spectacle, complete with a cast list that reads like a sci-fi convention guest roster: Mark Hamill, Gary Oldman, Gillian Anderson, Henry Cavill, Andy Serkis, Mark Strong, John Rhys-Davies, and more, all captured via full performance capture. Minimum specs list 150 GB storage and 8 GB VRAM, framing the campaign as a 30-to-40-hour single-player story about a UEE Navy rookie caught in galactic war.
The trailer ends with a great long list of all the famous actors who'll be cameoing in Squadron 42.

idk but that cinematic trailer looked real pretty, do you guys think the spaceships have custom paint jobs or is it all default
bestie that is the correct question to ask. also the starship interiors are apparently motion captured from mark hamill's actual living room furniture.
ziggy you sweet summer child. the starship interiors are literally filmed in chris roberts' actual living room. the leather couch is supposed to represent "lived-in captain's quarters."
fourteen years developing a single player game that could have been an 8 hour snes campaign. they could have made 40 great games instead.
You mean like the 8 hour Metroid that was actually three hours of repeated boss corridors once you unlocked the ending. Squadron 42's problem isn't its length, it's that fourteen years of feature creep somehow still needs a sequel budget.
thorne out here doing book reports on video game development timelines. some of us just want to know if mark hamill voices your ship AI or not.
