Insomniac Games just dropped version 1.005.000 for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, timed perfectly with the Spider-Man: Brand New Day film release. The patch adds the "Fresh Start" suit modeled after Tom Holland's new look in the movie, alongside a crossover Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls suit, all free of charge. PS5 Pro owners also get enhanced PSSR support and a new Power Saver mode that scales back performance to cut energy use.
The update follows Insomniac's pattern of steady post-launch support for the 2023 title, which has already seen multiple suit packs and feature drops without requiring paid DLC. Bill Rosemann, VP Creative at Marvel Games, highlighted the "Fresh Start" suit in an earlier post as a "brand new look" for the upcoming film tie-in. Community posts on X and Reddit show players downloading immediately for the classic-leaning design, with some noting the matte blue tones and adjusted spider emblem compared to prior Holland suits.
This isn't groundbreaking news, but it underscores how cross-media tie-ins keep single-player console games relevant years after launch. The film hits theaters July 31 with strong early buzz and box office projections, and Insomniac's next project, Marvel's Wolverine, arrives in September. Studios that actually deliver free content instead of endless MTX deserve the credit here.
