M2 just dropped the console port announcement shmup fans have been waiting on — Senxin Aleste is finally hitting PS5, PS4, and Switch on March 18, 2027 in Japan. The arcade original dropped back in July 2021 on Sega's AL.Net P-ras MULTI Version 3 cabinets, and now the preservation crew is making it actually playable without hunting down a working machine.

ORIGIN mode is the faithful arcade port with M2 Gadgets and Wallpaper Mode for that authentic cabinet feel, while the new BLADE mode adds the Blade Missile weapon that shreds enemies and bullets alike plus free character switching for faster-paced action. Training Mode, new arranged tracks from M2 Sound Team, and fully voiced opening/ending sequences round it out. Physical standard editions run 7,480 yen, digital is 4,950 yen, and the limited physical hits 11,880 yen with extras like an archive book and soundtrack. PS4 version is digital-only.

X shmup accounts are already hyped, with @NShmups calling it the long-awaited port and tagging it as a 10th anniversary M2 flex. No Western release date yet, because of course the good stuff stays region-locked for a while. Another W for the vertical-scroll preservation squad.
