Jagex just drove RuneScape: Reignited into a ditch and lit the wreck on fire after twelve days of veteran players screaming bloody murder about a community split. The fresh-economy mode announced at RuneFest was supposed to let new and returning players start clean on separate servers with their own market and no cross-bossing with legacy accounts, but the old guard smelled blood and flooded the studio with feedback so loud Mod Ryan had to fold on camera.

Mod Ryan straight-up said they "missed the mark" and invoked the Evolution of Combat nightmare that took over a decade to crawl back from, admitting they promised on stage not to repeat that betrayal. No Reignited launch in December, no separate subscription trap, no fresh economy coffin for the main game. The planned Adventure Guide and a ten-day free membership window for new and returning players still drop, but the whole split-the-base experiment got yeeted.

Veterans won this round because they refused to let Jagex starve the main servers of new blood while forcing everyone to reroll or watch their thousands of hours rot. The economy stays broken, the playerbase stays unified, and the studio just ate twelve days of work plus a public spanking. Democracy in MMOs looks like a bloodbath and it still beats another silent screw-job.
