Capcom finally coughed up a free demo for Resident Evil Requiem three months after the full game dropped and raked in millions. The thing drops now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, Steam, and Epic, letting you poke around the early stages like a late-night horror appetizer. Saves don't carry over, because of course they don't -- why make it convenient when the cash already cleared the register?
Previous Resi entries got pre-launch demos to hook suckers. Requiem skipped that dance entirely while Capcom focused on polishing what turned into the fastest-selling entry in franchise history, moving 5 million in five days and topping 7 million by April. Now the demo arrives as everyone who cared already owns it or is knee-deep in the story expansion and that new Leon Must Die Forever minigame.
Community reaction is pure head-scratching mixed with shrugs. Plenty already finished the damn thing and moved on to waiting for DLC. The rest get a taste test after the fact, like Capcom remembered the old playbook too late. This is the participation trophy demo nobody asked for once the hype train left the station.
