Ubisoft confirmed this week that Rainbow Six Mobile will shut down on January 15, 2027, ending service just under 11 months after its global launch on February 23, 2026. The free-to-play tactical shooter, which soft-launched in 2023 and delivered 15 seasons of content, is being sunset so the team can shift to other long-term strategic projects.
The announcement came directly from the dev team in an official message that thanks players for memes, tournaments, and "impossible plays" while promising the next season still drops next week. Revenue hit roughly $1.6 million in the first 14 days after global release and climbed toward $3 million lifetime before the plug was pulled, numbers that proved insufficient amid Ubisoft's broader restructuring. Earlier this year the company closed its Halifax studio (71 jobs) and Winnipeg studio (around 65 jobs, many tied to Rainbow Six Mobile), part of multiple 2026 rounds that have gutted mobile and Rainbow Six teams.
Community reaction on Reddit and X ranges from "I didn't even know this existed" to calls for petitions, with many tying the failure to years of delays, competition in the mobile shooter space, and Ubisoft's pattern of killing underperforming live-service titles. The game will remain playable with ongoing seasons until the servers go dark.
