Polyarc, the Seattle VR studio behind the acclaimed Moss series, has officially shut down after nearly 12 years. The closure follows an earlier round of significant layoffs in March 2026, triggered by failed funding attempts after a major project cancellation.

The studio posted a brief farewell on LinkedIn, noting the end of active development and directing hiring studios to a reverse recruiting spreadsheet listing contact details for nearly 30 affected staffers, including co-founders. Its final release, Moss: The Forgotten Relic, arrived in July as a non-VR compilation of the original games.

This marks another casualty in a brutal year for VR-focused developers, with Polyarc's own documents confirming the downsizing hit hard months before the full closure.
