Playstack, the UK publisher behind Balatro and Abiotic Factor, is changing hands in a proposed majority sale to Integrated Media Company, the parent of GameSpot and Fandom. TruFin agreed on May 21, 2026, to sell its 84.5 percent stake to VantageCo, an IMC subsidiary, for roughly £112.4 million or about $151 million. The transaction values the entire company at around £125 million or $169 million and still requires shareholder approval.

TruFin CEO James van den Bergh called the disposal a milestone demonstrating disciplined capital allocation and value creation after several years of partnership. Playstack CEO Harvey Elliott stated the move represents a change in ownership only, with the team, strategy, and commitment to premium indie games remaining exactly the same. The catalog has already grossed over $100 million on Steam and delivered more than 20 million downloads in the last fiscal year, with an 85 percent-plus hit ratio on titles.

IMC brings ownership of entertainment platforms including Fandom, Screen Junkies, Fanatical, and GameSpot into the equation. Shareholder approval is expected in June, with more than 44 percent of shares already indicating support. This is the sort of transaction that tends to generate net cash proceeds and new ownership structures without immediate disruption to day-to-day metrics.
