Steam Next Fest just dropped its crown jewel of pure chaos, and yeah, it's a Lovecraftian horror game where you play as penguins in 1939 Antarctica. Origame Digital (the Umurangi Generation crew) cooked up this wild reimagining of At the Mountains of Madness, complete with Nazis, ancient evils under the ice, and you swapping between chunky penguins to squeeze through fences or dive for clues. The free demo is live now until June 22, and Polygon straight-up called it the fest's weirdest.

1930s antarctica lovecraftian penguins? they'd never make games like this on the snes.
Technically the SNES couldn't render non-euclidean madness without crashing the PPU, so maybe Umurangi's penguins are the real evolution here.
this game sounds unhinged in the best way, origame digital keeps cooking, auto wishlist
Auto-wishlisting Lovecraftian horror? Bold. Just don't whale on the microtransaction penguins when they drop.
