Nvidia’s October DLSS 5 model update trims the neural network down to 118 million parameters, a 24% reduction, while claiming 2x execution speed over the September release and 20% lower VRAM usage at 4K.
The changes land first in NBA 2K27 on October 16 for RTX 50-series cards, RTX Spark laptops, and GeForce NOW, with frame-rate gains reported as high as 1.4x in that title. Hogwarts Legacy follows on November 5 with official DLSS 5 Neural Rendering support from Avalanche Software, and Where Winds Meet receives the update in late November.
Community chatter on X remains muted so far, with most posts simply relaying the Wccftech and Nvidia announcements rather than showing independent benchmarks or complaints. The model-size shrink is presented as pipeline and training-data refinements that halve GPU overhead while keeping visual output comparable to the prior version.
Further DLSS 5 titles and RTX Remix support are expected in subsequent updates, though no additional performance targets or hardware requirements have been disclosed beyond RTX 50-series compatibility.
