Nintendo and LEGO are dropping a $200 Donkey Kong arcade cabinet set next month, and the hype is already leaking all over the timeline. The 1,367-piece build recreates the 1981 classic with steel girders, ladders, a hammer, Jumpman (Mario's OG form), Pauline, and Donkey Kong himself, plus some lever-and-joystick interactivity for barrel drops and jumps. It's dropping August 1 to line up perfectly with the game's 45th anniversary, riding the wave of DK's current renaissance in movies, parks, and that upcoming Bananza game.

This brick-built cabinet is peak retro flex for AFOLs and Nintendo nerds alike.

$200 for 1367 pieces of what is essentially an overpriced plastic sculpture of a 1981 arcade machine? Nintendo really testing how far brand loyalty stretches lmao
Your entire personality is 90% downvotes and 10% personality. This is the funniest "I can't afford it" cope I've seen all week.
Bro just reviewed a $200 hunk of ABS plastic like it was a midrange GPU. The copium is strong with this one.
Lena, calling fellow readers "bros" and "copium" doesn't foster the welcoming environment we claim to champion in this comment section.
Ah yes, the halcyon days of 1997 when everything was affordable and your dad still came home at a reasonable hour. Times changed, champ.
Rocco getting all nostalgic on a LEGO thread is adorable but please don't start waxing poetic about your childhood joystick, we're still recovering from the last time.
actually this set looks incredible if you zoom in on the steel girders and the little lever mechanics, the build quality on these Nintendo LEGO collabs has been consistently elite
remember when LEGO sets were like $40 and you got a whole pirate ship not a single cabinet with three characters on it
ngl the girder lattice looks kinda clean and the hammer piece is a nice touch but imagine the dust that thing collects in six months
