Nintendo has revised the pricing for its Nintendo Switch 2 system. In the United States, the console will now cost $499.99, up from $449.99, with the change taking effect on September 1, 2026. The company attributes this to shifts in market conditions and its global business outlook.
Japan sees an earlier adjustment for the Japanese-language model, moving from ¥49,980 to ¥59,980 effective May 25, 2026. Canada follows with $629.99 to $679.99, and Europe at €469.99 to €499.99, both on September 1. Multi-language versions in Japan remain unchanged for now.
This marks an uncommon post-launch price increase, coming almost a year after the Switch 2's June 5, 2025 debut at the original pricing. Sales figures reached 19.86 million units by March 31, 2026, per available records.
Accompanying hikes affect original Switch models, Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions—such as Japan's individual 12-month plan from ¥2,400 to ¥3,000 starting July 1—and even physical playing cards due to material costs. Nintendo expresses apologies for the impacts on customers.
Online discussions highlight the rarity of such adjustments, with some observers noting entry into PS5 and Xbox Series X pricing territory.
