The court-ordered liquidation of Midgar Studio marks another quiet endpoint in the ongoing Nacon insolvency proceedings that began earlier this year. Founded in 2008 by Jérémy Zeler-Maury, the Montpellier-based developer had been working on Edge of Memories, a planned action-RPG sequel set in the Edge of Eternity universe and scheduled for Q4 2026 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Nacon's CTO noted in a LinkedIn post that efforts to secure a buyer for the studio continued until the process timeline expired without resolution, despite attempts to preserve both the company and its team. Other Nacon subsidiaries including Spiders, Kylotonn, and Cyanide had previously filed for insolvency as well, following issues at parent company Bigben Group.

Zeler-Maury's statement highlighted the studio's 18-year history and the people behind titles such as Hover and Edge of Eternity. The immediate status of Edge of Memories remains unconfirmed following the closure.

The proceedings reflect standard outcomes when parent company financial distress intersects with subsidiary runway limits.
