Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux are rolling out a free next-gen update this month, hitting PC on October 22 and consoles on October 29. The patch adds 4K textures, improved animations, richer environmental detail, native 4K/60fps or upscaled 4K/120fps on consoles, DLSS and spatial audio on PC, plus platform extras like PSSR on PS5 Pro and TSR on Xbox Series X. Deep Silver and 4A Games are clear this isn't a remake or remaster -- the original Redux aesthetic stays intact while throwing in community-requested bug fixes and quality-of-life tweaks. The whole thing drops right as the Metro series crosses 50 million copies sold worldwide, 16 years after the first game launched.
