Metacore has confirmed the termination of 159 positions at its Finnish headquarters along with the complete shutdown of operations in Germany and Sweden as part of a broader restructuring tied to the ongoing Supercell acquisition.

The cuts follow the acknowledgment that Merge Mansion's growth has plateaued after years of strong performance, with new game development efforts failing to deliver global hits in an increasingly competitive mobile market.

CEO Mika Tammenkoski framed the changes as necessary to refocus resources on the core title, while Supercell CEO Ilkka Paananen expressed confidence that the integration will position Merge Mansion for renewed scaling under the publisher's live operations expertise.

The restructuring aligns with Supercell's plan to fully acquire the studio, formalizing years of investment that began with a 2018 stake and continued through substantial financing rounds.
