Meta announced its VR Glasses at Connect 2026, a 100-gram device priced at $1,299.99 and slated for spring 2027, with the compute, battery, and storage moved into a separate tethered puck.

The glasses use dual micro-OLED displays at roughly 5K resolution per eye, support Unity 6.6 through OpenXR from day one, and include eye tracking, hand tracking, and full-color passthrough, while maintaining compatibility with the existing Quest content library.

Studios including Schell Games and Marvelous Inc. are already developing for the platform, though some observers noted the 70-degree field of view and the external puck as practical trade-offs against the weight reduction compared to the heavier Quest 3.

Meta also unveiled AI-powered tools Horizon Create and Horizon Studio that generate 2D and 3D games from text prompts on mobile and browser, with publishing to Facebook and Instagram and early creator testing underway.
