Liquid Swords, the Stockholm studio founded by Just Cause co-creator Christofer Sundberg, was declared bankrupt by the Stockholm District Court on October 12. Nearly 30 employees had gone unpaid since August, prompting them to petition the court themselves. The Swedish state will now cover their wages through its wage guarantee system.

Samson: A Tyndalston Story launched on PC in April 2026 and hit PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in September. It earned a Metacritic score of 51 and sits at roughly 52-56% positive on Steam after around 3,300-3,600 reviews. Estimated sales reached about 151,900 units across platforms for roughly SEK 24.1 million in net revenue, well short of expectations given prior NetEase investment of SEK 220 million and earlier layoffs that cut the team in half.

The bankruptcy trustee from Cirio Law has placed the studio, its IP including Samson source code and assets, up for sale with bids due October 21. Console versions shipped and a Steam update landed October 8, yet further support remains uncertain absent a buyer. Sundberg had publicly called launch bugs "unacceptable" and promised fixes that the studio's financial collapse now places in doubt.
