The problematic V42 (N3CN42WW) update, which Lenovo quietly removed from its support site weeks earlier, leads to blank screens and boot failures during installation. The company’s statement advises users encountering a blank screen to hold the power button for about 10 seconds, wait a minute, and try powering on again; otherwise, contact support. A Lenovo forum representative indicated repairs should be free for affected devices, though this appears conditional on warranty status and local laws.

The issue does not impact every Legion Go, being limited to the first-generation 8APU1 model and specific batches or circumstances, with Lenovo noting reproduction in their European lab but not universally. This situation highlights ongoing hardware-software reliability challenges in the handheld PC space without clear commitments on universal free repairs.
