Kinetic Publishing just dropped its first-ever showcase and the Phasmophobia devs are swinging hard into indie publishing with five fresh titles locked for 2027-2028 on PS5, Switch 2, PC, and Xbox. The headliner is Sam Barlow's Precognition, a live-action FMV sci-fi horror collab with Brandon Cronenberg where you play Diana, whose experimental brain implant feeds her future visions that rewrite reality the second she commits one to memory. The rest of the slate is all over the map: Contact Protocol (starship security sim dropping spring 2027), Crescent County (witch delivery life-sim with motorbrooms), Shellbound (snail-shell metroidvania), and Aether Wizard Life (haunted-town rebuilding with magic and mystery).

The timing feels perfect after Phasmophobia's massive success. Kinetic is promising small-slate, hands-on support for devs instead of the usual publisher chokehold, and every game already has a firm window instead of vague "someday" vibes. Community chatter on X and Reddit is mostly hype for the variety and Barlow's return to FMV weirdness, though some are side-eyeing how the butterfly-effect premise lands in actual gameplay.

Barlow's track record with Her Story and Immortality means this one could slap or flop depending on how the memory-committing mechanic actually plays out. Either way, indie horror just got a bigger sandbox.
