Jet Studio's Kaguraden lands on Switch, Switch 2, and Steam in 2027 with hex-grid dungeons that shift every run and a voice cast pulling from the big leagues. Mutsumi Tamura voices the oni-blooded protagonist Kagura, with Showtaro Morikubo as grandfather Jiya and Maria Naganawa as little sister Kotomi. The studio behind the CG work is betting on procedural 3D terrain with elevation, 60 folklore monsters across three ranks, and permanent village upgrades funded by whatever you manage to drag home alive.
This is classic roguelike risk-reward dressed in Japanese myth: every run starts at level one, loot only sticks if you extract, and the hex grid plus height differences force actual positioning decisions instead of just smashing forward. Jet Studio is showing a playable demo at Tokyo Game Show 2026 in hall 8, booth 08-S03, complete with merch handouts. Steam page is still under review, price TBD, Japanese voice with English subs confirmed.
Plenty of Japanese folklore roguelikes exist, but the combination of developer pedigree, solid seiyuu, and hex elevation on consoles next year gives this one a shot at standing out from the pixel-art crowd. Whether the procedural variety holds up for more than a few dozen runs remains to be seen when the demo drops.
