Insomniac just hotfixed the blue fart cloud that’s been haunting Marvel’s Wolverine since before launch. The September 19 patch v.01.001.005 slashed the opacity of those scent trails and audio sense indicators so they’re no longer glowing like radioactive swamp gas in your face. Players who tested it immediately confirmed the change: instead of a thick neon trail, you now get a faint puddle of color on the ground that still points the way but feels a hell of a lot less like the game is holding your hand with a stink bomb.

The studio’s patch notes spell it out plain: “reduced opacity to make these visuals less intense” while they “continue to evaluate ways to further improve Senses in the game, including exploring toggleable options for a future update.” They also tossed in crash fixes for the small percentage of players who couldn’t even get past the menu without a reboot. Community reaction on X has been predictably savage, with memes celebrating the death of “Jean Grey’s fart gas” and some already joking that the studio is panicking over sales and player feedback.

This isn’t a full removal yet, and it sure as hell doesn’t fix the bigger complaints about linear hand-holding in a game that already plays itself in spots. But at least the visual assault got dialed back before the smell stuck around forever. Insomniac left the door cracked for a real toggle later; whether they walk through it depends on how loud the complaints stay once the new visuals settle in.
