id Software just got chainsawed in half by its own parent company. Multiple sources confirm roughly 50% of the studio — around 95 roles, mostly coders, tools devs, and QA — got the axe on the same day their Doom: The Dark Ages Revelations DLC dropped.

The engine team is basically a corpse. Scott Miller and others are saying most if not all programmers are gone, with senior art and design roles also torched. This comes as Xbox torches 3,200 jobs total and Bethesda pivots hard to "strongest franchises" like Doom while the people who actually make the magic get shown the door.
