Hasbro recorded a $56 million non-cash write-down on its video games portfolio in Q2 2026, covering capitalized costs for projects now cancelled or scaled back through 2028. CEO Chris Cocks described the move as a portfolio review that eliminated several lower-conviction titles while preserving a narrower set of bets on owned franchises.

Exodus, described as a Mass Effect-like sci-fi RPG from Archetype Entertainment, and Warlock, a new Dungeons & Dragons title expanding on the popular class, both remain in development and have entered finishing phases targeted for 2027 release. Cocks positioned these as meeting the company's criteria for big audience potential, strong genre fit, franchise potential, and opportunities beyond the initial game.

The company has already cancelled multiple unannounced projects and conducted layoffs in recent quarters, including a single-player D&D action game from Stig Asmussen's Giant Skull studio. Future strategy narrows to Magic: The Gathering Arena, Monopoly Go, Baldur's Gate 3 successes, and a concentrated number of high-conviction owned titles rather than broad expansion.
