SUNSOFT just dropped the July 23 launch date for Hard Edge: War Zone, turning the dusty 1998 PS1 cyberpunk shooter into a 4v4 real-time tactical card battler on Steam.
The setup keeps the Sakuraville siege vibes with prequel story stuff involving Alex, Michelle, and a whole roster of operatives and mercs, but the gameplay flips everything into deck-building meets simultaneous team actions—draw cards for guns, grenades, knives, or shields, then ditch cards just to move while your squad coords on flanks or suppression fire.
Modes are straight Capture the Flag or Team Deathmatch, with mid-match leveling to slap new cards into your deck on the fly, and the Steam page plus official site lay out the full cyberpunk throwback package for 1,800 yen with a bunch of language support.
X is already buzzing with the announcement posts from SUNSOFT and Gematsu, plus a couple demo players calling the early build brutal but the core idea interesting—classic indie revival energy loading up.
