Fortnite just dropped update 40.40 like a frag grenade into the squad, slapping in a full Overwatch anniversary crossover that somehow makes Blizzard's own game look even more cooked by comparison.

Epic's throwing Tracer, Genji, D.Va, and Mercy skins into the shop with matching weapons like Pulse Pistols and Caduceus Staff, new POIs straight out of Hanamura and King's Row, and a payload escort mode that turns every match into a mini Overwatch payload push. Zero Build got the real overhaul though -- Pocket Items replace the old build button for unlimited utility with cooldowns, you start every game with a pistol and shield potion, fall damage just splats you to 1 HP instead of killing you in unranked, and elims now siphon overshield to reward the aggressive players who actually frag.

X is already exploding with "this is what Overwatch 2 should have been" hot takes and zero-build mains calling the changes goated, but the real shade is how this collab is out here carrying the hype while the actual hero shooter sits on its anniversary looking dusty. Your KD is ass if you're not dropping in right now to test these tweaks.
