Square Enix has marked Final Fantasy X's 25th anniversary with a new trailer and a port of the X/X-2 HD Remaster arriving on Switch 2 July 23, bringing the fully polygonal Spira to Nintendo's latest hardware without major reinvention.

The original 2001 release pioneered voice acting in the series and fully 3D environments on PS2, spawning the direct sequel X-2 in 2003 and an HD remaster that has cycled through PS3, Vita, PS4, PC, Switch, and Xbox One since 2013. The Switch 2 edition carries over full HD graphics upgrades, remastered and arranged music, International Version content, high-speed mode, and no-random-encounters options.

No upgrade path or save transfer exists for owners of the 2019 Switch version, forcing a fresh $49.99 purchase, while the Japanese physical release uses a Game-Key Card format with a 25th-anniversary sleeve. Community posts note the port's multi-language support and combined 100-plus hours of content but highlight the lack of substantial new enhancements beyond the platform shift.

Twenty-five years on, the pilgrimage through Spira and the Sphere Grid's tangled paths still draws players back, trailer or no trailer.
