Square Enix just dropped the extended Evercold teaser and locked in August 4 for the Switch 2 version of FFXIV, complete with a separate sub and 50% discount for existing players. The new Bastion tank job wields dual greatshields called skyltborg, while new zones like the water realmship Naglfar, fire realmship Hringhorni, and city Fargarth set the Nordic-flavored stage for a January 2027 launch. Collector's Bundle packs physical merch like a Reaper figure and keychain alongside digital goodies such as the Crystal Skyltborg weapon and Vallhallar Odin mount.

Crossovers are piling on too, with a Final Fantasy VII Remake raid series and Evangelion "Ghosts of Desire" raids announced. PS4 support creeps toward its end after Patch 8.3 in roughly two years. Whales eyeing the gacha-like collector's items and new tank main are already sketching their mains, while the Switch 2 port opens the door wider for console players.

This is the usual Square grind: more content, more platforms, more subscriptions to keep the servers fed. The teaser hits all the right notes for hype without spilling the full story yet.
