Xbox Game Studios and Playground Games have shifted the Fable reboot from its planned fall 2026 window to February 2027. Xbox chief content officer Mat Booty explained on the Official Xbox Podcast that the team is pleased with the game's current state and wants to ensure it receives undivided attention rather than competing in a crowded holiday period.
The official statement emphasized planning launches "in a way that works best for players," with the explicit goal of granting Fable "the dedicated moment it deserves." Multiple outlets noted the timing aligns with the anticipated November 2026 release of Grand Theft Auto 6, though Xbox framed the adjustment around broader scheduling considerations including other titles.
This marks the second delay for the project, which was previously moved from a 2025 target. The title remains slated for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, including Steam, Microsoft Store, and Game Pass availability. More details are expected at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026.
