The Crown Store website for The Elder Scrolls Online went dark on July 22 as ZeniMax Online Studios manages reduced staffing following the layoff of 379 employees earlier this month. Community manager Kevin Gbolie cited workload constraints in a forum post, noting the change shifts purchases and browsing to the in-game store while keeping crown acquisitions available online. The monthly Crown Store Showcase blog will also transition to a more list-like format due to limited team capacity.

This follows Microsoft-initiated cuts that eliminated over half the ESO development team in some estimates, with 213 positions gone from ZeniMax Online Studios alone. Prior rounds of layoffs had already trimmed the studio, and the effects now touch even the cash shop infrastructure designed to generate revenue. High-resolution screenshots once used by community wikis like UESP will be scaled back accordingly.

The adjustments arrive weeks after the studio introduced a new seasonal content structure amid the staffing shortfall. Sources indicate additional impacts on livestreams and community management from earlier cuts. ZeniMax Media reported a further 166 positions eliminated in the same wave.
