Red Rover Interactive is undergoing a restructuring process that will eliminate an undisclosed number of roles at its Newcastle and Oslo offices. The studio, founded three years ago by veterans from Funcom, Bohemia Interactive, and Lockwood Publishing, has raised a total of $20 million, including a $5 million seed round in 2023 and a $15 million Series A led by PUBG maker Krafton in 2024.
Enginefall, the studio's debut title described as a player-driven crafting shooter set on a sprawling train, is scheduled for 2026 and has accumulated over 300,000 Steam wishlists. A company spokesperson stated the adjustments are intended to place the company on more sustainable footing for the next phase of development, with efforts underway to support affected staff through specialist recruiters.
The cuts arrive as the studio prepares for launch, underscoring the financial pressures that persist even after significant funding inflows and public milestones. Enginefall wouldn't be at the stage it is today without the talent, creativity and commitment of the whole team, the spokesperson noted.
