Funcom finally caved and gave Dune: Awakening a full solo mode in Update 1.5, because apparently the MMO grind wasn't selling enough copies before consoles drop next week. The Exchange turned into a straight-up vendor shop, Landsraad runs on autopilot simulating rival guilds, and Coriolis storms got nerfed so you don't lose everything in the Deep Desert anymore. PvP's now optional across the board, Hagga Basin stays pure PvE, and base taxes vanished entirely while death durability penalty dropped to a gentle 2%.
Difficulty sliders go deep too — three presets plus full custom tweaks for sandstorms, item durability, XP rates, base decay, and even worm spawn rates. Single-player characters stay locked to that mode, no crossover with multiplayer saves, and the first story arc wraps up with retroactive rewards. Funcom's own words: 'You don't have to lose things anymore.' Arrakis just got a participation trophy.
Community chatter on X is split between relief from solo fans and side-eye from the PvP crowd watching their competitive edge soften. PC Gamer broke the patch details first, and the Steam news drop confirms everything went live September 17 on all platforms with console head start for deluxe owners.
