Diablo 4 finally caves and lets Eternal Realm characters crash the Seasonal party with Rebirth in Season 15, but don't pop the champagne just yet. The feature lets you pick an old Eternal hero, slap it into the Seasonal realm, and keep the name, class, appearance, cosmetics, mounts, pets, portals, headstones, and even Hardcore status—plus it tallies total playtime across every rebirth. Everything else? Level one reset, empty inventory, gear left behind in the stash or gone forever. You have to strip the character naked before the button even works.

Blizzard rolled this out on the 3.2.0 PTR ahead of Season 15 launching September 15, 2026, right after BlizzCon. The Eternal-vs-Seasonal split has been a chronic pain point since launch, forcing players to delete characters or start fresh every three months just to touch new mechanics. Rebirth is the half-measure they finally shipped after three years of begging, modeled after Diablo 3's version but stripped down to cosmetics and identity only. The PTR itself is light on other content because the real Season 15 reveal is apparently saved for BlizzCon.

Community reaction is predictably split—some call it a solid QoL win that reduces friction, others say it's basically just deleting and recreating a character with extra steps. Either way, the long-requested feature is here, and the Eternal graveyard might finally see some use again. Gear up, or rather, gear down.
