Cyberpunk 2077 has now reached 40 million copies sold worldwide according to CD Projekt Red's announcement today. The milestone arrives six years after the troubled 2020 launch and follows a prior report of 35 million units in November.
Joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski called the figure evidence of the game's "incredible, lasting strength" and a testament to the studio's focus on immersive stories. Ongoing sales drivers include the Switch 2 port released last year, a 70 percent Steam discount, and continued updates such as the PS5 Pro patch.
The Witcher 3 sits at 65 million units for comparison, while a Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 anime is slated for this fall and a sequel remains in development at the Boston office. A trading card game tied to the IP also recently exceeded crowdfunding expectations on Kickstarter.
