Argonaut Games has greenlit the next chapter in its retro revival with the announcement of Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos, a remaster of the 1999 sequel landing on PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Switch, and PC.
The timing makes sense: last year's remaster of the original Croc: Legend of the Gobbos proved the appetite for polished Gobbos still exists, prompting the studio to confirm the follow-up if sales cleared the bar. This version restores the game's original development title and promises enhanced visuals plus the usual extras—design docs, developer interviews—without a firm date beyond a Q4 2026 target window.
The trailer leans into the familiar beats: Croc hunting his parents while Baron Dante schemes anew. Community chatter on X has been mostly nostalgic, with players admitting they skipped the sequel the first time around and now eyeing a second chance at the platforming.
Whether the expanded cast of levels and hub worlds holds up under modern scrutiny remains to be seen, but Argonaut is betting the brand's charm travels better than most 27-year-old 3D platformers.
