Control Resonant has moved one million copies in three weeks, becoming Remedy Entertainment’s fastest-selling title in its 31-year history. This edges out Alan Wake 2, which required roughly two months to reach the same mark in 2023, and leaves the original Control’s slower climb well behind. The studio announced the milestone on October 15, 2026, coinciding with the arrival of physical editions on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon described the result as a “very strong start” for the first self-published Control game of this scale, noting the competitive September window that also featured several major releases. Creative Director Mikael Kasurinen thanked players for supporting the title despite an early digital leak, and physical Standard and SteelBook editions went on sale today at standard pricing. The announcement arrived alongside news of post-launch content including New Game++.
Remedy’s communication director Thomas Puha simply noted the figure as a “strong start.” Community posts highlighted the studio’s history of slower sales despite critical acclaim, with some piracy communities reportedly urging purchases to support the Finnish developer. The original Control has since surpassed six million lifetime units as of March 2026.
