Far Far Games has locked in April 20 for Bylina's PC debut, pulling an authentic Slavic epic from the folklore archives into the action RPG arena. Players step into Falconet's boots—a young bogatyr born without the usual heroic gifts, shunned like a plot device waiting activation. He meets an early grave on a routine errand, only to be revived by a mysterious spirit that hitches a ride in his body. Their quest: reclaim his soul, unravel the spirit's secrets, and topple Koschei the Deathless in the Far Far Kingdom. It's bylina brought to life, those ancient Russian epic songs of bogatyrs battling immortals across thrice-nine realms.
Gameplay leans into skill-based combat with swords, spears, bows, and spells, set against vibrant forests, shadowy dungeons, and puzzle-laden castles teeming with mythical beasts and bandits. The demo, out since February under new publisher Digital Vortex, has ARPG enthusiasts on Reddit buzzing about its fluid hack'n'slash roots amid the rarity of Slavic myth in the genre—less Diablo clones, more Ilya Muromets with a modern twist. No price yet, but Steam, Epic, and GOG are primed.
Consoles get the nod for PS5 and Xbox Series, though Far Far Games plays coy on dates. In a sea of generic fantasy, Bylina's commitment to Koschei's egg-hidden death and bogatyr bravado could deliver the narrative depth RPGs crave—or expose it as window dressing. Either way, the lorehound in me welcomes the saga's swing.
