Gearbox is once again cranking the live-service wheel for Borderlands 4 with a free Raid Boss 2 update dropping May 28 as Patch 1.7. Subjugator and Thol the Invincible tag-team you in the Fadefields before one retreats to go full ascended rage mode, all while you chase a new Pearlescent SMG and a pile of Legendaries plus class mods for every Vault Hunter.

This is the second raid boss after Bloomreaper, part of the endless endgame treadmill that keeps the hamster fed with UVHM level 7 and that shared progression toggle players begged for. Official reveal trailers and the 2K site confirm it's free for everyone on PS5, Xbox, PC, and even Switch 2, complete with new firmware tweaks for charge weapons.

The hamster wheel spins on because that's how these games survive past launch. Free raids are better than nothing, but it's still the same grind wrapped in prettier loot explosions. Players on X are already hyped for the new gear and the repeatable fights, but let's see if the community actually sticks around once the novelty wears off.
