SquallyDaBeanz has finally delivered the beta for Baldur's Gate 3: Act Two Expansion, dropping a whole new region called the Chionthar Wilds into the gap between the Shadow-Cursed Lands and Act Three. The mod, nearly two years in the making since its initial teaser, gives mid-to-high level parties (roughly levels 8-10) an Act One Wilderness-sized sandbox of exploration, 30-plus combat encounters, over 70 new items, quests, dungeons, NPCs, cutscenes, and custom creatures.

Access comes naturally enough: cross the bridge out of Reithwin near the 'Road to Baldur's Gate' waypoint and the mod reroutes you into the Chionthar Wilds instead of straight into Rivington. Existing saves work if installed before leaving Act Two, a QuickStart option lets new games jump straight in, and there's a point of no return with a warning before Act Three begins. Experience gains are deliberately throttled so a full clear nets only about 30K XP and won't wreck Act Three balance.

The modder is upfront about limitations: don't expect Larian-level reactivity or voiced dialogue, and choices here won't ripple into the main story. Version 1.0 promises better writing, more class/race-specific lines, finished cutscenes, and combat polish, but the beta is already playable from start to finish. In a game this reactive and reactive, one dedicated fan just quietly added another chapter's worth of content where the vanilla version felt thinnest.
