Integrated Media Company, the parent of Fandom and GameSpot, is set to take majority control of Playstack through its VantageCo subsidiary in a deal that values the indie publisher at around £125 million. TruFin, Playstack's current owner, agreed to sell its 84.5% stake for approximately £112.4 million in net cash proceeds, subject to shareholder approval.

Playstack reported £55.3 million in gross revenue for 2025, up 24% year-over-year and accounting for most of TruFin's total revenue, with an 85% positive return rate across its titles. Balatro stands as the standout success among releases like Abiotic Factor and The Rise of the Golden Idol.

Founder and CEO Harvey Elliott described the move as a change in ownership rather than a shift in the company's approach, with business continuing as usual for the team focused on premium indie games. TruFin CEO James van den Bergh called it a milestone demonstrating disciplined capital allocation.

IMC, backed by private equity firm TPG, owns multiple entertainment and gaming media brands and positions the acquisition as a platform for sustainable value creation. The transaction remains conditional on the upcoming shareholder vote.
